....whatever your beliefs, however you pray,
pray for the people of Burma.

When I was there I fell in love with this country and it's people.

What is happening there is a tragedy.

Backstage, opening night of Broadway on the Beach, The Full Monty at the legendary Ogunquit Playhouse......
I played Pam opposite Hunter Foster.  The whole cast was amazing...the town, the crew.  What a time.
Come and check out this theatre sometime.  It is a special place.

....so I mentioned an amazing cast...and amazing is right.  This is me (as Pam) with the star of The Full Monty, Sally Struthers.
She was the soul of this incredible cast.  I loved every minute working with her and getting to know her.
As you know, I love comedy so what a joy to stand in the wings and watch her bring the house down every night.

.with the uber talented and handsome Nick Dalton and Milton Craig Nealy...two of the guys in The Full Monty.  How lucky am I!

This picture was taken in Burma (Myanmar) in Mandalay, December 2006.
I cannot express the effect this country had on me.  The people, their resilience, the land, the openness of spirit, the history.  And the children.  These were some very special, beautiful children that we met at a school as we made our way to Inle Lake, another breathtaking part of that country.

Graham Rowat and I at the legendary club BIRDLAND in NYC. The superb Michael Barber on Piano!!  I don't know who was more excited that I was singing at Birdland....my Dad, the biggest jazz fan ever,  or me!

You can read about this show and our run in New York a bit more on this website and the show website but I wanted to express how amazing it was to work with my dear friend and uber talented colleague Graham Rowat.  We have known each other for years and we have always wanted to work on something together and this incredible opportunity came along.   And what a time it was.  New York Musical Theatre Festival, the Sundance of Musical Theatre!  We were one of only three Canadian shows and we were proud to be there and to get such a great response.  See the other photos for what an amazing team it was. Thanks Dennis, Derrick, Michael, Ann, Alexis and Brock.  What a trip!!

New York, September 2006

What a trip! I had the great opportunity to sing with Carole Pope and Rough Trade at the Toronto Pride 2005 weekend. I met Carole when I was doing The Vagina Monologues in Toronto a few years back and she is such an incredible woman, artist and friend. It was a rockin', inspiring event with so many people out celebrating life and diversity. That is me in the shorts on the right.....I had to show you an overhead shot with the awesome crowd of dancing, shiny happy people. Definately a night to remember. Thanks Carole and Rough Trade. You guys are legends!

Life mirroring art…Me with Train 48 cast mate and dear friend (and theatre school buddy) Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and his beautiful son Noah. I am so happy for him and wife Anna! Noah is a wonder! It has been so fun how their journey to parenthood has been partly (in a small but fun way J) mirrored by our characters “Liz” and “Randy” on Train 48….except that Liz should tell him that is his baby!!! Noah has already made starring and scene-stealing appearances as Liz and Randy’s baby and it has been so special to have that connection. Thanks for sharing him with us Paul and Anna! Xo

Me with two of my beloved cast members (Andrew Kenneth Martin, Paul Lee) from Train 48 at our season wrap party....(and a sneak peek of my new LONG hair!) We just completed episode 193! And I have to say, this cast and crew is truly the most incredible group of people. The Talent! The Professionalism! The Laughter (so much laughter!!) and most of all the friendships!! I am truly blessed to have worked with them these past two seasons and hopefully we will all meet back on the Train for Season 3. Congratulations to my Train 48 family for a job well done. You truly are family.

This is a Quebec-based band called Satellite of June ....a really awesome sound from some very cool guys! Check out their site at www.satelliteofjune.com
click on mp3s and you can hear their song Krista among others. How flattering is that!? A song inspired by my name and by Train48! Have a listen....great tunes!

"Fern" A freezing cold (oh, around a balmy -40) near Orillia, Ontario.  Beautiful winter weather on this day as I prepared to go on my first ever Dogsledding adventure.  I have so many layers on I feel like I am off to recess in Grade 4.  I've never been one to complain about the cold and winter much...I enjoy the passing of the seasons and that eventual smell in the air that signals that spring is just around the corner.  It's that smell that, as a kid, got you excited about getting your bike out soon (with the hockey cards clothespin to the spokes...you know what I am talkin' about:))  Anyway there was no spring aroma in the air this day so I reveled in the winter magic of it all and headed off to meet my dog team!

December 2003

"Dogsledding" Meet my stellar team of dogs that guided me safely across the tundra.    One of the best things I have ever done in my life.  The sheer strength and joy that these dogs exhibited in pulling me (squealing!) on the sled was exhilarating to say the least.  The dog in the foreground named Nathaniel or Nigel or some strong name like that  (looking back towards camera) kept looking back at me as we went along as if to check up on the rookie.    There we just three teams and we went out across fields and through the woods.   My face was frozen in a smile when I got back for a hot toddy by the fire.    Incredible!

Train 48 on hiatus!....off to Rome and London

Well, originally it was to be just London but an internet booth beckoned on London's Kings Road and before I knew it I was off to Roma! It is still one of my favourite cites.rome

September 2003

I love travelling...more for the sights, smells, flavours, energy than any tourist trap...find the best pubs, cafes, quirky squares, narrow streets and you will find me there. But in London you can't NOT boat down the Thames to Tower Bridge!

September 2003

While I was hangin' out there so was illusionist David Blaine....you know him... he is the guy suspended in a plexi box above the Thames for 44 days. He is apparently being pelted with eggs and harassed endlessly.... a display of human nature....Theatre of the People. I find what the audience is doing way more compelling than what he is doing. That is where the true spectacle is. Well, there, and the pub I went to right after this photo was taken.;)
